CKDHMC Day 3

Day3

Today at the Courtney King-Dye Horsemastership Clinic, we started off the day with barn chores and yoga (as usual.) I rode in my lesson with Courtney King-Dye at 10:15. It was an awesome lesson! We worked on the canter and improved the promptness of our transitions within and to and from the gaits, but also improved the quality of the gaits. We got a super good collected canter, it was so collected and uphill that I felt like I could just turn him and it would’ve been a pirouette! Fiero is awesome like that, when you introduce new things to him like that, he understands what you want right away! I really enjoyed my lesson with Courtney today, and felt that it really helped me a lot and I learned a lot.
During lunch Courtney King was kind enough to give each clinic participant a free SIGNED copy of her new book, Courtney’s Quest. I have already started reading it! It is super cool to be able to learn about the journey of such an accomplished rider!

After lunch we had a demonstration about long lining with Richard Malmgren. It was a very cool demonstration because I had never gotten to see long lining in person, and now I can add that to my “tool box.”

After that we took a tour of the Select Breeders Services facility. Their services are very convenient services to have  for your mares and stallions! Today was another great day at the Courtney King-Dye Horsemastership Clinic!
